how to shorten heels on high heel shoes

how shorten heel on high heel shoes

a better way to shorten heels without cutting the heels off........ if you decide to reverse the changes it can be done......benefits are keeping the elevation and look of shoe, front of shoe has patting for comfort, and it cost less than sending the shoe to the shoe repair shoppe.

shoes that can be shortened... high heel shoes with at least a 1/16 in. wide on the bottom of heel.... test shoe on the table top.... put the shoe on the table, front of the shoe should sit almost flat on table, if the front toe of the shoe curves up to much, you can't alter
things you will need:
matching cheap flip flops, i am using black, my soles are black
 use E6000 glue
Popsicle stick for spreading glue
white paper ( news paper will rub ink on shoes)
2 strong hair pony tail bands
blue masking tape (the blue leaves less residue on shoes ) if working on Swede or fabric shoes you should cover top of shoe with paper or cloth before wrapping with tape.
razor blade or razor knife
1/2 sheet of course #80 sandpaper

first cut flip flops, cut straight across, right in front of the two back holes...if shoe is larger, cut longer.

use the front part of flip flop... then wipe with alcohol, the flip flop portion and and the bottom of shoe...allow for ample time for alcohol to dry..... then stuff paper in the shoe.

apply glue on bottom of shoe, spread on first coat and let it dry a little, till it is tacky and spread on flip flop, let it dry till tacky

Aline the two pieces together, strap with pony tail band

wrap masking tape as tight as you can get around the shoe, squeeze foam while wrapping and make sure to wrap the back of curve tight....after wrapping squeeze to get air bubbles out and check for any gaps, if there is gaps use more tape at the gap.....wait 4 hours to dry
cut tape downward on to flip flip, careful not to cut on the shoe...then peel tape off
trim with razor knife close to the shoe sole being careful not to cut into shoe and do not angle while cutting...sit the shoe standing up on table, cut in a down direction.
next roll up sand paper and sand in a side direction until smooth...only and on flop flop

wipe with alcohol to get the tape sticky off..then fold a scrap piece of flip flop and rub off any remaining glue
