a better way to line the refrigerator to keep it clean

a better way to clean the refrigerator is to line it so you can just wipe to clean or remove vinyl and clean the vinyl
supplies:
vinyl..I used the kind you use to cover the kitchen table with, the good type, it's thicker, the type you cut and buy off the roll..they sell it at most fabric stores and some hardware stores...make sure you can see though the vinyl...I bought this vinyl at a discount store "wally world" the cost $2.77 per yard. I used 1 yard because it's very wide, you can also use a vinyl shower curtain..
scissors or something to cut it with
hair dryer (optional)
next of course you want to clean the refrigerator first
take shelves out or you can leave them in...it is easier at this time to take them out so you can cut the vinyl to fit the shelves..later when cleaning you can just take the vinyl out and wash it instead

the reason this is better than most of posts for this purpose is that some use place mats, the mats don't fit, have seams that let stuff fall between, don't fit level and containers tip over..also they don't let the light shine through and are more expensive...another post used seal and press plastic, I feel this is expensive and you have to continue cutting and fitting to the shelves
I found if the glass is still damp it will stick to the vinyl while trimming...place vinyl on top of shelve and trim around also covering frame just inside edge..don't just fit to glass because I found that food gets between glass and frame, this will help stop this

you can use a hair dryer if the vinyl has creases in it...but it is optional because sooner or later they will go away on there own
some shelves have air vents in them..DO NOT cover the vent part of shelf
I had enough vinyl left to line box shelves...turn upside down and trim around, I left some excess while trimming about 2 in around box

you can also use this vinyl to line kitchen cupboards...easy to wipe, lasts longer, cheaper and lays better then regular shelf liner
